Tudor was registered in 1926 by Hans Wildorf, the founder of Rolex. The intention with Tudor was initially to make watches with the Rolex aesthetic, where Tudor watches were fitted with premium quality clockwork, instead of Rolex in-house clockwork. Tudor quickly grew into a strong brand identity of its own, with many collectors worldwide in many ways valuing Tudor as highly as Rolex.
Like Rolex, Tudor watches have been used by divers, special military forces and explorers throughout the brand's history. The most iconic feature of Tudor diving watches is their diamond-shaped hands, known in the watch world by the name "snowflake". About Black Bay
Tudor Black Bay is the name of the concept in which Tudor revived a series of Ionic watch designs from the second half of the nineteenth century. Tudor distinguished itself noticeably through the models with so-called "snowflake" hands, the wider surface of which allowed for more luminous mass, resulting in greater legibility for professional divers.
Tudor Black Bay can be divided into three different groups, where the first is the reintroduction of classic diving models with rotating rings, snowflake hands and the significant "Big Crown" crowns, for easier time adjustment when diving. Then there is a group of classic models that have been supplemented with modern complications and finally there are the models that are more or less straightforwardly reintroduced classics in their original form.
