With a distinctive product design and innovative lens technology, Oakley has created a significant name on the market, not least in the sports and lifestyle context, and today offers sunglasses, goggles and much more. The brand was founded in 1975 by James Jannard who named Oakley after his Irish setter, "Oakley Anne".
Oakley was born into motorsport when Jannard started selling what he called "The Oakley Grip" out of the back of his car at motocross events. The brand gained increased recognition and success in 1980 with the O-Frame eyewear model whose strap was adorned with the Oakley logo. Shortly afterwards, the brand's first goggles and sunglasses were also launched.
