The polo shirt - a garment that is or perhaps should be in every man's wardrobe. Versatile in terms of being both comfortable and stylish, and can easily be dressed up or down. Below are two interpretations of how you can wear it this summer and for many summers to come, inspired by two debated style personas.
Whether the tourist look is hit or miss is as unclear as the Scandinavian summer weather. However, the style is worn by millions of tourists annually, even if it often leaves something to be desired in terms of overall finesse.
We have therefore made an attempt to re-interpret the outfit and focus on details such as material choices and fit make the look more interesting. At the top, we've chosen a knitted polo shirt from Lacoste, which features a slightly boxier fit without being too contemporary. Together with this, we choose a pair of cotton shorts in a colour scale between the pair of boat shoes and the lighter suede belt. We have chosen to keep the tourist's favourite accessory – the bucket hat, which we know is not for everyone, but we have chosen one in nylon, which contrasts with the somewhat rough and bland materials in general. If you feel silly wearing a hat, a classic cap pairs just as well. If you want to dress up the look, it's easy to do by swapping the bucket hat for sunglasses and opting for a pair of loafers instead of the boat shoes.
Timeless garments that improve with each passing summer take centre stage. Clothes closely associated with a father figure and that you may have seen worn year in and year out. You even swore you’d never buy or wear, but that you now see the garment’s charm. The polo shirt that is washed beyond recognition, the knitted sweater that is worn every summer evening when the sun sets or the sneakers that has been worn a couple too many times. In our interpretation, we have pieced together a toned-down look, adapted for long evenings in relaxed company. The same base garments in the form of the knitted polo shirt, this time worn with a pair of washed jeans that only get better over time. For this we wear a knitted lamb's wool sweater in a light blue colour and a pair of the classic 990s from New Balance.
