John Smedley

John Smedley is a British brand dedicated to the production of fine knit clothing of the very highest quality. It was founded in Derbyshire, England where both the company’s headquarters and its production remain to this day. The company has a long and proud tradition that can be traced all the way back to the Industrial Revolution.

The John Smedley name can be traced back to 1784 and the opening of a spinning mill by Smedley himself along with business partner Peter Nightingale. Their workshop quickly became a source of work for many in the region, something which it continues to be to this day.
