Three knitted sweaters this autumn
The knitted sweater is the garment you wish for when the chilly mornings come as a shock. A warm sweater in high quality lambs wool or an elegant, finely knitted polo shirt. Our stylist walks you through how to combine three classic knitwear styles this autumn – the polo shirt, the zip-up sweater and the long-sleeved polo shirt.

Morris Half zip

The half zip is the ultimate sweater. A sweater that is both warm and comfortable, which you could also wear over your work shirt to keep the style formal for meetings. This model is available in a range of different colours, coarse knit and fine knit. The sweater is made of 100% merino wool with reinforced seams at the underarms and shoulders, for durability and wear resistance. The zip adds both stylish detailing and a practical function when you want to protect your neck from the wind. Match the sweater with a flannel or Oxford shirt, trousers and a pair of brown suede chukka boots for the perfect everyday look.
Gloverall turtleneck

When talking about solid sweaters that last over time, usually heavy and coarsely knitted sweaters in wool retain first position in this category. This turtleneck from Britain’s Gloverall is one of the brand’s most robust and warmest sweaters. Made in a heavy 5-gauge merino wool from Sheply Yarns - a yarn manufacturer from the small village of Diggle, outside Manchester. The term "5-gauge" refers to the thickness of the wool, where a lower number means coarser wool. The sweater is available in several autumnal colours and can be paired with a down vest or longer car coat for a stylish look. Combine the robust wool with a pair of heavy chinos or raw denim. Loafers, Derby’s or Chelsea boots with a slightly thicker sole tie the look together.
Canali merino polo shirt

Sometime even just a shirt can feel cold under a blazer. The cotton is almost like cold paper on the skin and is perhaps more aesthetic than pleasant. The answer to this may be to choose a shirt in soft flannel, or even better – a finely knitted long-sleeved merino polo shirt from Italy’s Canali. This sweater is perfect paired with a suit or with a pair of wool trousers. Here we select a midnight blue variant, which works with most colour combinations. The contrast with a dark grey flannel suit is low, giving it an understated elegance and dressy feel.
