Piacenza Cashmere has made some of the finest cashmere garments in history, with a corporate history that stretches back almost 300 years, since 1733. Piacenza began sales in Turin, all the way back in 1799, at a time when French occupation led to difficult conditions with fewer workers and a weak market.
When the Industrial Revolution exploded in the United Kingdom, The Piacenza family was early in introducing the mechanised looms that increased both the pace of production and quality to completely new levels. Combined with having already used the finest materials in the world for a very long time, Piacenza quickly won a respected position as a manufacturer of knitted garments. Wool, Alpaca wool, Vicuña, angora and the subject of this text: cashmere! The company made far-sighted, innovative and long-term investments and was one of the first weavers in Italy to produce patterned fabrics. With all this taken into account, the Piacenza family has historically gained success in both the clothing industry and politics.
