Altering your fragrance per season or occasion is very normal. In advance of the long awaited switch to summer, we push our heavier fragrances to the side, making way for lighter fragrances where notes of citrus, bergamot and sandalwood take over. We list four selected fragrances, which bring summer to mind.
No. 007 is a fragrance created to pay tribute to everyone's favourite secret agent and connoisseur, James Bond. The fragrance, inspired by the style and substance of the films, where Bond’s charming, nonchalant charisma plays a central role. Perhaps you are on a mission in the British capital this summer, hopefully under slightly calmer circumstances than Bond, where danger and luxury alternate. Inspired by the icon, wear this fragrance, where amber meets notes of orange and juniper, underlined by the soothing warmth of sandalwood and musk. This cocktail is perfect to wear throughout the day as well as in the evening, where meetings and networking take place, over a Vodka Martini in a bar somewhere between the Mayfair’s Georgian townhouses.
Top notes: Bergamot, orange, juniper and geranium
Heart notes: Rosemary, clove and rose
Base notes: Ambergris, sandalwood, oak moss, musk
In this post, we also want to take the opportunity to pay tribute to the Swedish cultural brand 19–69, who have created a range of different niche fragrances inspired by different eras, cultures, and places around the world. Chronic, whose name stems from Dr. Dre's classic album The Chronic, is no exception. With this fragrance, 19-69 has been inspired by cannabis plantations in Southern California throughout the 90s, where notes include bitter grapefruit, cannabis accord, and moss. Together, this blend exudes a lush and lively scent. Chronic works well as an everyday fragrance and is cliché enough that it would perform well on a hot day in Beverly Hills, sighting celebrities. For extra immersion, pair the fragrance together with a pair of cut-off denim shorts from Levi's in true 90s spirit, combined with a colourful cardigan and sandals.
Top notes: Petitgrain, bitter orange, bitter grapefruit.
Heart notes: Cedarwood, cannabis accord, amber.
Base notes: Patchouli, vetiver, cashmere, moss, musk.
The French-British perfumery Creed creates handmade and fragrant perfumes. Bois Du Portugal is a masculine fragrance reminiscent of the forests of the Iberian Peninsula. The word Bois translates to forest in French, where classic notes such as bergamot, cedar and sandalwood emerge. The perfume brings to mind an old barbershop where an aftershave is mixed with sour citrus and floral lavender. Ideally wear this fragrance on a warm evening in the Douro Valley wine region, where wine and cheeses are paired on the daily. Bois Du Portugal is an instant classic that accompanies you year after year.
Top notes: Bergamot and lavender.
Heart notes: Cedar wood.
Base notes: Sandalwood, vetiver grass and amber.
